DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN 
Instructor: Dolores Petersen
All levels of experience are welcome in this popular KACC workshop! Students go from "I can't draw" to "I can draw everything--Including portraits!" This workshop is a highly structured series of 5 classes using specific exercises to develop the right brain hemisphere.  This method enables the student to see and draw accurately.  This process of concentration is useful in other fields of activity as well.
August 19, 21, 26, 28 & 29; 9:30 am-3:30 pm $120

WATERCOLOR FROM PHOTOS
Instructor: Angie Banta Brown
Bold and bright colors and creative techniques will make this three day class an exciting learning experience. Expand your knowledge in translating photos into exciting and unusual watercolor paintings. Class will include daily demonstrations  as well as individual and group critiques. We will be working from the instructors extensive collection of beautiful photographs.
September 10-12, 10 am - 3:30 pm. $210

TRAVELING AS AN ARTIST(NOT A TOURIST)
Instructor: Mary Wilbanks, NWS
This is a sketching-painting class for all skill levels that teaches how to complete stunning sketches and paintings with supplies that fit easily in a purse or backpack.  Mary will begin the class with instruction in drawing basic shapes in black and white and color, using pencils and a wash.  She will then cover simple, one point perspective, how to create distance with overlapping planes, values and edges. Participants will also learn to draw using pen and ink with watercolor wash. Mary taught Life Drawing and Painting at the Phoenix Art Museum for 5 years, and at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center for 3 years.

DRAWING PORTRAITS THE EASY WAY
Instructor: Dolores Petersen
Dolores will show students how to use “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” techniques to “map” out the features of the human face and reproduce them on drawing paper.  Various media will be covered, including pencil, charcoal and pen and ink.  Lessons on proper shading and anatomy of the head and face will be given. Participants will be able to complete several portraits during the course of the workshop.
September 16, 18, 23, 25 & 26;  $120

ART IN THE MAIL!
Instructor: Maggie Clark
Have FUN learning the basics of fiber arts while making a fabric postcard, which will be mailed the same day.  Participants will learn new techniques in working with fabric, thread and embellishments to create a postcard. Maggie will mail the card for the students and recipients will receive a special keepsake art card in the mail. This class is great fun for all ages over 12.  No sewing experience is necessary, but participants are welcome to bring their own sewing machine and extras.
